GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH

Meeting at Howard Johnson
5403 S.1st, Abilene,TX 79605
325-698-3851

How it all Started
In the spring of 2006, six couples contacted Chuck and Becky Reynolds about starting a new work and planting a church in Taylor County, Abilene, Texas.
After several weeks of prayer and Seeking God's Will it was clear we should plant GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH. We discovered it was absolutely necessary to pray, trust God, love each other while having confidence in Pastoral leadership. We searched the Bible and agreed contention, strife and disunity were to be marked and not allowed.
GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH assembled in homes until June 4, 2006 when we held our first public service in the Wylie Community Center, Abilene, Texas.

Why we are here
GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH has a three-fold mission purpose for the function and practice of EXALTING the SAVIOR, EQUIPING the SAINTS and EVANGELIZING SINNERS as we pursue Loving God, Loving People, Making Disciples, Baptizing Saints, Teaching them to be Disciple makers.

What we believe
We believe in the Infallible,Inerrant, and Inspired Word of God for our manual on life.
We believe members of Grace Baptist Church should be saved and scripturally baptized.
We believe in the Ordinances of Baptism by Immersion and the Lord's Supper.
We believe in the study of God's Word and Prayer for private devotions.
We believe in a separate living from a world estranged from the rule of God.
We believe in a literal Hell and a literal Heaven.
We believe the Lord's work is to be funded by tithes and offerings of Saints.
We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, Died on the Cross, was buried, arose from the grave, asscended to the right hand of God and will return for His Church before the Tribulation Judgement and Mellinial reign.

Ministry Methodology
Leadership will follow the following guidelines of a saved, called Pastor with a burden for the work to act as overseer, shepherd and leader of Grace Baptist Church. Trustees will assist the Pastor with an accountability group as well as a ministry team to assist with the function of the Church. Deacons will be servants for God and assist the Pastor with meeting needs of Grace Baptist Church and will not act as a board of delegation of practice and procedure. Staff may be added as needed and report to the Pastor or delegated supervisor by the Pastor.

Finances will have accountability to the Lord as well as the grace Baptist Church family on a monthly basis as well as a yearly basis. We will operate from cash flow as God provides with the first 10% of general offerings as a minimum for Missions. The 90% or less of general offerings will be used for Facilities, Fellowships, Salaries and benefits, as well as other requirements of Discipleship, Ministry, Worship, Evangelism, Fellowship and Administration.

Our Goals will be to pursue the Love of God, Love of People, Soul Winning, Baptizing and Discipling Saints all for the Glory of God.

Matthew 22:36-40
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
37 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind'. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age."
